ATA is a document that provides a list of recommendations for accelerating the process of technology acceptance and outlines a process by which the SDC can influence the movement of technology within the concrete industry.

Submitted to ACI in June, 2004, the ACI Board of Directors provided feedback in April, 2005, in the form of responses developed by a Board Task Group chaired by former President James Pierce. Vice President David Darwin was appointed by the Board of Directors to monitor progress related to the BOD responses. At the request of the SDC Executive Committee, Mr. Claude Bedard will chair an SDC Action Group and be SDC’s point person for communication between SDC and ACI.

SDC will focus in the short-term on providing additional clarification on some ATA recommendations, establishing a dialogue with other ACI Board Committees, and re-evaluating recommendations not endorsed by ACI, but which are of particular importance to the SDC, for future discussion.

An “ATA process” is now the long-term focus for SDC within and for the concrete industry. This process provides a vehicle and template for SDC to engage in projects recognized as potentially beneficial to the concrete industry.
