SDC once again travels north to learn more about technologies and transfers of information, and Quebec City, with its historical charm, metropolitan sophistication, and warm hospitality, will be the site of this SDC Session - and this session is shaping up to be a working session for a number of the SDC's teams for its newest ICTs (industry critical technologies) of 'green cements,' 'concrete wind turbine towers,' and 'concrete in nuclear construction,' as well as the repair industry's efforts associated with "Vision 2020." Champions for our new ICTs are forming teams now and kicking off their efforts, so now is the time to take part in these initial sessions.

Our members and colleagues in Canada have typically led the way in 'sustainability,' and SDC #32 will be the place to see and hear issues related to sustainable aggregates and paving, the subject of PCRs (product criteria rules), and EPDs (environmental product declarations) that are beginning to gain traction in the U.S., and the results of an intense LCA of a 5 story precast building.

Reports on SDC sponsored research efforts will include the latest update for the "EVALUATION OF AN INDUSTRY DEVELOPED PROTOCOL FOR MEASURING THE PERFORMANCE OF REINFORCING STEEL CORROSION MITIGATION AND PREVENTION TECHNOLOGIES FOR CONCRETE REPAIRS" being conducted under the auspices of the US Bureau of Reclamation and which is nearing completion. The status of a significant future 5-year research project entitled "REDUCING VOLUME CHANGE-INDUCED CRACKING OF CONCRETE: Field Implementation and Evaluation of Crack-Reduction Technologies" will also be addressed at this session.

Once again, SDC's series of Technology Showcases will highlight interesting and new ideas and innovations that could impact the industry in the near and not so distant future. Showcases will reveal living repair materials, sustainable products and processes, and unique use of natural and by-product materials.

For those that have participated in SDC Sessions, networking and 'ideation' is a constant feature at SDC. We look forward to seeing representatives of our member organizations there, and welcome those who are not members, but are interested in not only advancing, but accelerating technology acceptance!
